☙ Synopsis ☙
Max “Shame”’ Schaeffer knows only one way—the hard way. He lives hard, drinks hard, fights hard…and if comes to it, he figures he’ll die hard, too. The only soft thing in his life is Charli Steele, the younger sister of his two best friends. He knows she thinks she’s in love with him, but with his tarnished and messed-up past, he doesn’t see anything in him worthy of love.
Dr. Charli Steele knows more about Shame than he realizes, and she has loved him since they were kids—scars and all. He loves her, too. She is sure he does. But Shame will never give in to it. Until one brief, stolen night leads to another…and another. Then Shame decides to throw it all away. Heartbroken, she retreats, intent on trying to heal from this latest rejection. But a phone call in the middle of the night changes everything.
Shame is hurt, and he needs her.
It turns out he needs her a lot more than he realizes. But will he let her in…before it’s too late?
☙ Review☙
Man with A Painful Past & Strong, Intelligent Woman = 4 1/2
F*ck Club: Shame is Max and Charli's story. It will grab you from the beginning and not let go until the end. The reader will become invested in the story and the lives of the characters. F*ck Club: Shame is a marvelous and unique story. It has romance, sizzling scenes, developed characters, and some twists & turns / drama.
Max 'Shame' has a sad and painful past / childhood. He has coped with his past by drinking and fighting. Shame is a fighter and a survivor. He has not really ever felt loved. Shame believes because of this that he is not worthy or deserve love. Shame has had feelings for Charli, but feels that he can't be trusted & worst person for her. Shame is a brooding male, who is trying to deal with his demons. Remember one of the rules of F*ck Club is never, ever fall in love!
Charli Steele is Con and Riley's little sister. She is working on becoming a doctor. Charli is incredibly intelligent and independent. When Charli set her mind to something, she does it. Charli is a very determined & strong willed young woman. She has loved Max since she was young. Charli finally gets her chance with Max. Will she be able to show Max that he is worthy of love? Can they find a happily ever after? Can Charli save Max before it is too late?
I am so excited that Charli and Max 'Shame' got their own book. The author put a lot of heart and emotion into these characters and brought them to life, in my opinion. I was rooting for Charli and Shame to find love and a way to be together. In my opinion, that is part of the definition of a good story. I love when the heroine is strong and feisty. I enjoy when the hero can be vulnerable and admit his love, even if it takes a little while for it to happen.
Overall Story - 4 1/2 Stars
Chemistry - 4 Stars
POV - Alternating POV's
Series - Yes, but a Standalone
Recommend to Others - Hell Yes
