Rough Around The Soul is incredibly beautiful and heartfelt story. The characters have gone through their own struggles and difficult times. Both characters are also strong, kind and passionate person. This story starts off with Melanie and Jake meeting and having an one night stand. Rough Around The Soul has interesting characters, an age-difference couple (18 year old & 25 year old) / forbidden relationship and steamy sex scenes. The reader will also find romance, amazing chemistry, secrets, betrayal and lots of emotional moments for the reader (laughter, hopefulness, joy, anger, sadness, etc.).
Melanie is a young woman, who has had a very rough start in life. She has learned that she can only count on herself. Her mother is an alcoholic, and her father is in prison. Melanie is let down by everyone in her life. After she is taking the fall for her friend, Melanie has to attend drug education class. The instructor is none other than Jake. Melanie is a strong and determined person. She has goals that she is working towards. Melanie wants to leave her town and go to college.
Jake is a detective and is helping his uncle out. He didn't expect to see Melanie again after that night. Jake is struggling with his own issues. He is depressed / sad and a little lost. Jake is also strong, kind and protective. He is instantly attracted to Melanie, even after he finds out how old Melanie is. For Melanie, Jake makes her feel safe and protected. Jake tries to fight his attraction for Melanie.
Can Melanie and Jake help each other with their issues & struggles? Will Melanie and Jake find a happily ever after? I love that these two characters are strong and determined. Rough Around The Soul is a story that readers will love these characters and cheer them on.
